Yulong Snow Mountain & Blue Moon Valley | Breathtaking Lijiang Adventure in China

Yulong Snow Mountain, near Lijiang, China, reaches 5,596 meters above sea level, offering an incredible high-altitude experience. Our maximum target was 4,680 meters, a point that truly tested our endurance. On the bus ride up, we began inhaling from oxygen canisters to prepare ourselves for the thinner air ahead. Our oxygen levels read 91% just before boarding the cable car. The cable car lifted us to 4,506 meters, where our spirits soared and we paused to capture a quick video, celebrating how great we felt in that moment. The higher we climbed on foot, the tougher the challenge became. Oxygen canister at our side, we pushed through, driven by the staggering beauty unfolding around us. At 4,576 meters, the wind became fierce and unrelenting, prompting us to turn back. Credit goes to Shermaine, who bravely continued the climb and shared these stunning videos taken at 4,680 meters. The scenery was absolutely mesmerizing; snow-blanketed peaks stretching into the sky but the howling wind was intense and unforgiving. Our descent was deliberately unhurried. With each step down, the scenery unfolded in new ways—frozen meadows, distant glaciers, and the ever-present majesty of the mountain. It was a peaceful, reflective descent—one that allowed us to fully appreciate the grandeur of Yulong. Nestled at the foot of Yulong Snow Mountain, Blue Moon Valley is a hidden gem known for its vivid turquoise lakes and cascading waterfalls. Fed by glacial melt, the water shimmers with a milky blue hue—so surreal, it’s often called China’s Pamukkale. The valley features four stunning lakes, connected by wooden walkways and stone terraces. It’s a peaceful, dreamlike place where many visitors scoop the water over their hands for blessings honoring a Naxi tradition that sees the lake as sacred.
