I went to see the Kintetsu railway crossings, which are famous for their "pe-pe" sound. The crossing at Mito Station in particular is a place where you can hear two different "pe-pe" sounds, with different tones for the inbound and outbound lines. Platforms 1 and 2 towards Nagoya make the old-fashioned crossing sound (which goes "kuuun" at the beginning), while platforms 3 and 4 towards Namba make the current crossing sound (the one that goes "bee-bee"). This unique sound can also be heard at other Kintetsu stations with crossings.
