Saraha's Doha For The King | EP05

The text of instructions on which these talks are based is Saraha’s Doha for the King. When Saraha encountered a wisdom dakini and began to engage in non-traditional yogic practices, the local King tried to convince Saraha to return to a more traditional monastic approach. In response, Saraha sang this doha. A doha is not a systematic andgradual instruction on practice. Rather, it is a song expressing bliss resulting from personal realization. As a result of hearing this doha, the King gained realization. Saraha’s doha is organized in terms of the ground, path and fruition of mahamudra, each of which is summarized and then presented more extensively using various analogies. Thrangu Rinpoche’s teaching provides clear, profound and extensive commentary on Saraha’s doha. This teaching was presented at an 8-day long event in July 2002 to celebrate the consecration of 35 acres of land in Crestone, Colorado that has been given to Thrangu Rinpoche by the Manitou Foundation for the purpose of building a retreat center. Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche was present for the entire event, gave one of the 12 talks, and participated in the land consecration ceremony.
