Together with my Japanese friends, I left central Kyoto and explored Enryaku-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located on Mount Hiei. Walking through peaceful forests and a temple with over 1,000 years of history, I discovered a different side of Kyoto away from the usual tourist spots. If you're looking for a quieter and more authentic Kyoto experience, I highly recommend adding this place to your itinerary.
