Trial By Jury - Mackerras (1995) - G&S

Hastily conceived as a one-act filler for an evening's entertainment with Offenbach's 'La Périchole', 'Trial By Jury' quickly established itself as the real hit of the production. Although this was not Gilbert & Sullivan's first collaboration, it was the work that established the partnership for good. The first performance of Trial By Jury was on March 25th, 1875. ---------------------------Cast------------------------------- The Learned Judge----------------Richard Suart The Plaintiff----------------------------Rebecca Evans The Defendant------------------------Barry Banks Counsel for the Plaintiff----------Peter Savidge The Usher-------------------------------Eric Garrett Foreman---------------------------------Gareth Rhys-Davies Orchestra and Chorus of the Welsh National Opera Sir Charles Mackerras, Conductor Information from album notes, and oak apple press.
