Yoko Okamoto Shihan - The Road to New Normal / Aikido in Pandemic

The IAF is extremely pleased to present our 2nd video series: The Road To New Normal, by Yoko Okamoto Shihan, dojocho of Aikido Kyoto. As the challenges of the pandemic persists, many Aikidoka and dojos around the world have been struggling to keep our art alive. Aikido Kyoto sought alternative ways to sincerely continue their practice by adapting to the limitations created by the pandemic. In this video, Okamoto shihan and Aikido Kyoto share with Aikidoka around the world their journey in 2020, from the initial days of the lockdown in Japan last March, culminating with their practice at the end of the year. You will bear witness to the emergence of a "new normal" way of training. As you will undoubtedly see, their efforts are both untiring and inspiring. We hope this story gives you and your Aikido community the courage and insight to overcome the obstacles imposed by the pandemic as it teaches us how we can thrive in spite of the restrictions and hardship that we all are universally confronting.
