Almost a third of humanity doesn't need proof that 2,000 years ago a man named Yeshua, Jesus in other languages, known to his followers as Christ, the Messiah, walked the Earth. However, outside the private realm of belief, a vast territory for research unfolds, one that must unearth historical and scientific evidence to answer a reasonable question: Did Jesus of Nazareth really exist? Who was Jesus really? When did Christ exist? What evidence is there of Jesus? How many types of trials are there according to the Bible? What does the Bible tell us about trials? Where does the Bible mention trials? Jesus of Nazareth, also called Christ, Jesus Christ, or simply Jesus (Judea Province, Roman Empire; c. 4 BC – Jerusalem, Roman Empire; AD 30–33), was a Jewish preacher and religious leader. He is the central figure of Christianity and one of the most influential figures in history. sup 5,6,7,8 /sup Currently, and since the late 20th century, most historians of antiquity affirm the historical existence of Jesus. sup Note 6,Note 7 /sup According to the widely accepted view in academic circles, based on a critical reading of the texts about him, Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish preacher sup Note 8 /sup who lived in the early 1st century in the regions of Galilee and Judea, and died crucified in Jerusalem around the year 30, under the governorship of Pontius Pilate. The figure of Jesus is present in several religions. In Christianity, he is considered the Son of God, and for most Christian denominations, he is the incarnation of God the Son. His importance also lies in the belief that, through his death and subsequent resurrection, he redeemed humankind. Judaism denies his divinity, as it is incompatible with its concept of God. In Islam, where he is known as Isa, he is considered one of the most important prophets, while his divinity is rejected. The Baháʼí teachings consider Jesus a "manifestation of God," a Baháʼí concept for prophets. sup 9 /sup Some Hindus consider Jesus to be an avatar or a sadhu. sup 10 /sup Some Buddhists, including Tenzin Gyatso, the fourteenth Dalai Lama, consider Jesus to be a bodhisattva who dedicated his life to the welfare of people. sup 11 /sup What is known about Jesus comes almost exclusively from Christian tradition—although he is mentioned in non-Christian sources— sup 12 /sup especially from the tradition used to compose the Synoptic Gospels, which, according to the majority opinion, were written at least thirty or forty years after his death. Most scholars believe that by studying the gospels it is possible to reconstruct traditions that go back to contemporaries of Jesus, although there are major discrepancies among researchers regarding the methods of analyzing the texts and the conclusions that can be drawn from them.13
