Your Child Will LOVE This 1 Day DIY Climbing Triangle

Our kiddo was climbing on EVERYTHING in the house and we wanted to provide a safer environment for him to develop his skills (safer for him as much as the house...), so we built this Pikler Triangle for him! There were quite a few challenges along the way that hopefully you can learn from my mistakes! SUMMARY: The end build consisted of the following build notes: Used 2x4s for the legs cut into ~48" lengths Used 1" oak dowels cut into 24" lengths for the steps/rungs Used plywood for the pieces to lock the legs in place The Consumer Product Safety Commission recommends rung spacing to be less than 3.5" or greater than 9". I went with 9" and this was too wide for our 1 year old. So, I added additional rungs on just 1 side that are semi-permanent so that I can remove them in the future as he grows and return it to 9" spacing. (The spacing with the additional rungs is 5" on center.) If you do any painting, make sure the paint is safe for your kiddo to get in their mouth (they will inevitably put their mouth on it...). We used a safe if ingested chalk paint. Most chalk paint is safe if consumed. The bolt that we used with our star knob was 1.5" long. If you use the same strategy I did for this, the length may vary depending on the star knob you have.
