Dolorès Bertrais - La Manufacture d'idées 2025

More and more researchers are advocating the use of drawing as a sensitive method of inquiry, an investigative tool, and an analytical device, particularly in urban studies and environmental issues. In a drawn ethnography, Dolorès Bertrais traces the sand supply chain in Cambodia and offers an original reflection on the materiality of cities by following the life of a grain of sand. She invites us to reconsider the links between urbanization, extractivism, and socio-environmental justice from a Southeast Asian perspective, and explains how the use of drawing allows us to renew modes of knowledge production in a sensitive way and to forge new forms of interaction in the field. @lamanufacturedideeslamanuf424
