I bought a new two-seater bench seat from a Volkswagen Crafter (it's the same Sprinter, just with a different badge) for installation in our RV. It would seem that installing a part that was originally designed for our RV would be simpler than installing it. That's what I thought, too. In reality, it turned out to be much more interesting! In this video, I'll talk about the challenges I faced when installing the seats in this unused spot. As for the final result: The new seats, with their quick-release mechanism, are mounted on their own frame, the rear of which is attached to a structural member of the vehicle at four points. Vibration insulation has been installed in the front floor area, covering an area of ​​approximately 180 x 180 centimeters. The exhaust and road noise have finally disappeared. Now, from the driver's seat, I only hear the purr of the engine and the whistle of the turbo. The power wiring to the batteries has been installed, as well as a cable channel for future wiring to the rear of the cabin. The floor frame has been constructed and insulated with a 30mm PIR board. All that remains is to lay the final floor covering (most likely laminate), but that's still to come. Budget for this stage: Seats — 20,000 rubles. Vibration insulation — 8 sheets x 480 rubles = 3840 rubles. Mastic — 600 rubles. Paint — 300 rubles. PIR board — 3 sheets x 350 rubles = 1050 rubles. 3-meter steel profile and cutting — 500 rubles. Wooden beams — 3 x 40 rubles = 120 rubles. Fasteners (bolts, washers) — 500 rubles. Total: 26,900 rubles. Total weight: Seats - roughly 40 kg, not very heavy, but large and uncomfortable; I couldn't weigh them myself. Seat runners - 6 kg Vibration dampening - 9 kg PIR plate - 2.5 kg Steel profile - 6 kg Wooden beam - 3 kg Fasteners (bolts, washers) - approximately 2 kg Total: the camper gained 68.5 kg, rounded up to 70 for an even number. The next part of the story will be about installing the camper window - it turned out to be much more difficult than I thought, but with our 4WD motorhome, nothing is easy! :)
