Fall Mammoth Bonsai Forest Pruning (My $25 Bonsai Project)

Yet again it’s time to prune this fast growing beast of a bonsai! I prune my Mammoth Variety of Portulacaria Afra Bonsai Forest that I created last Fall and discuss its progression. This is an unusually LARGE Portulacaria Afra variety that I found on sale last year at such a give away price that I could not resist picking up a small bucket of them. They like to grow large and fast! Last Winter this bonsai tree was continually plagued with mealy bugs and it was an epic many months battle. I was able to eventually prevail, but not before the colony had migrated to a few of my other trees which were much more easily treated. I am hoping that is not a common occurrence with this plant, but I will be watching it very closely this year for sure.
