New Bamteli Chat (March 6, 2017) ROSES FALLING ON THORNS AND MOANING NIGHTINGALES The esteemed Fethullah Gülen Hocaefendi said the following in this week's Bamteli chat: “Modesty has been stripped away, such impudence is everywhere, What ugly faces, it seems, are covered by a thin veil; No loyalty... no honor to promises... trusts are nothing but words; Lies are common, betrayal is everywhere, truth is unknown. ……….. My mind shudders, O Lord, what a terrible revolution has taken place, Neither religion nor faith remains, religion is ruined, faith is ruined!..” (M. Akif Ersoy) With religious rhetoric and under the guise of the Directorate of Religious Affairs, they have dragged society into a terrible immorality. What an ugly transformation! Religion is ruined; faith has become a mirage! Religion is being used as mere material for worldliness. Religion's criteria are being used like a broom to sweep up their own filth, and then it's being placed on the broomstick. May God protect us! This is, in a way, more dangerous, more destructive than anything the infidels do, something that separates people from God and the Prophet even more rapidly! They should never stop saying "God" and "Prophet" if they so choose! Yes, we live in a sinister, cursed time where we witness—perhaps—a few hundred lies, fabrications, and slander from such people every day. In this time, maintaining the right direction in terms of emotion and thought, not deviating, and walking righteously is crucial; it earns a person not two rewards, but perhaps ten. Even if living life so faithfully, with integrity, with love, and with longing is the goal, even if it is made a goal in such times, it is quite difficult to fully realize them. Because the world around us is seething with lies, slander, and falsification… Every day, those ugly filths pour from television screens into our rooms, our bedrooms. From newspaper pages, they first strike our minds, then they damage our souls; then, in a way, they tend to damage the minds of the generations who, under our tutelage and through our upbringing, are forced to find their true selves.
