Mini-docu 'CHUPAPI': CLW & Anna Boghiguian

In 2021 ging bezochten leerlingen van het Centrum Leren en Werken en documentairemaker Laura Zuallaert samen 'A Short Long History' van Anna Boghiguian. De mini-docu 'Chupapi' kan gezien worden als een antwoord op de afgelopen tentoonstelling van Boghiguian. In de tentoonstelling van Boghiguian kwam onder andere het industrieel verleden van de stad Gent aan bod. In een serie workshops werkten de jongeren van CLW, die zelf aan het begin staan van hun professionele loopbaan, rond het thema ‘arbeid’. Ze dachten samen met Laura na over wat het betekent om te moeten werken en welk beroep ze graag willen uitoefenen. Samen met Stijn Wastyn maakten ze een serie stop-motion video’s en deden enkele experimenten met schaduwspel. Vanwege covid kon de film niet in première gaan, maar we tonen je toch graag het resultaat van het project: de film ‘Chupapi’. S.M.A.K. organiseert regelmatig kunstprojecten in samenwerking met verschillende partners uit het sociaal culturele veld. Samen met deelnemers bezoeken we de lopende tentoonstellingen en gaan daarna, geïnspireerd door wat we hebben gezien, zelf aan de slag. Soms lopen de projecten nog langer door na afloop van de tentoonstellingen. De resultaten kunnen gezien worden als een artistiek "antwoord" op de het tentoonstellingsprogramma. --- In 2021 pupils of the CLW and documentary maker Laura Zuallaert together visited 'A Short Long History' by Anna Boghiguian. The mini-docu 'Chupapi' can be seen as a response to Boghiguian's previous exhibition. In Boghiguian's exhibition, the industrial past of the city of Ghent was dealt with, among other things. In a series of workshops, the youngsters of CLW, who are at the beginning of their professional careers, worked on the theme 'labour'. Together with Laura, they thought about what it means to have to work and which profession they would like to exercise. Together with Stijn Wastyn they made a series of stop-motion videos and did some experiments with shadow play. Because of covid, the film could not premiere, but we are still happy to show you the result of the project: the film 'Chupapi'. S.M.A.K. regularly organises art projects in cooperation with various partners from the social and cultural field. Together with participants, we visit the current exhibitions and then, inspired by what we have seen, set to work ourselves. Sometimes the projects continue even longer after the exhibitions have ended. The results can be seen as an artistic "answer" to the exhibition programme.
