A3 NEWS Venice 28/05/2026 - VENICE - Mayor Simone Venturini is expected to appoint his new government by Tuesday. The goal is to be operational by mid-June. Let's hear what the possible choices are. "I will ask everyone to make great sacrifices." Mayor Venturini will build his new government on these principles, as he stated to us the day after his victory. The councilors and aldermen will be appointed between Monday and Tuesday. The deputy mayor's position will go to someone from the Brothers of Italy party, and according to Venetian senator and regional coordinator of the party, Raffaele Speranzon, it should go to former Public Works councilor Francesca Zaccariotto, the center-right's most voted candidate. The final say, however, will be up to Venturini. According to the electoral agreement, Brothers of Italy will be awarded four out of ten councilors, and three of these will be chosen from among those elected. In addition to Zaccariotto, there will be two others: outgoing councilor Maika Canton, Alessandro Scarpa Marta, second in terms of votes, Giampietro Trabuio, a longtime Favaro municipal councilor, and Silvia Peruzzo Meggetto. Fourth place could be awarded to one of those excluded, and could go to former Insula president Fabio Raschillà. Three councilors, however, will be held by Venturini's civic list: former prime minister Ermelinda Damiano seems certain to take over the mayor's baton for Social Policies, while Matteo Senno is the favorite for Sports. Also in the running are Marco Bellato, former president of the municipality of Favaro, former councilor Paola Mar, and newcomer Costanza Melchiori. However, there are also some outsiders the mayor could bet on, while Paolino D'Anna seems destined to become president of the City Council. The League will have two councilors: one will be Sebastiano Costalonga, who will likely continue to work on Commerce, and the other will be chosen between Giovanni Giusto and Riccardo Brunello. Then there's Monica Poli, the most voted "lady pickpocket" on the list.
