Making Pizza for the Trail Part 1
We experiment with freeze drying pizza sauce to see if it is suitable for making pizza on the trail. We LOVE the results. Next step--the crust! Pam's Pizza Sauce 1 tbsp ghee 1 tbsp olive oil 1 tsp minced garlic 1 can (28-oz) CENTO tomatoes--San Marzano if available 2 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp dry basil leaves 1/4 tsp salt Pinch red pepper flakes Melt fat in heavy sauce pot. Add garlic and saute until lightly browned. Pulse-blend tomatoes until just a few small chunks remain. Add tomatoes, salt, and spices to the pot and stir. Simmer for about 15 minutes.
