“Empowering Lives To Impact Our World” Champion Life Centre-Scarborough Easter Celebration Sermon – May 10, 2026 Preacher: Colleen Lewis Message Title: A Tribute to Mothers Key Scriptures: Proverbs 31:28 NIV 28 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: Psalm 127:3 NIV 3 Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Jeremiah 1:5 NIV 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Every Child Has Purpose Psalm 139:13-17 NIV 13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. 17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Jeremiah 29:11 NIV 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Mothers in Scripture 1. Eve – Genesis 3:12–15 2. Jochebed – Exodus 2:1–3 3. Hannah – 1 Samuel 1:12–20 4. Mary – Luke 1:26–38 5. Lois & Eunice – 2 Timothy 1:5 The Calling of a Godly Mother Mothers cooperate with God’s purpose for their children. Three Encouragements to Mothers 1. Continue to Love & Support Isaiah 54:13-17 NIV 13 All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace. 14 In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. 15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you. 16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc; 17 no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord. Isaiah 49:15-16 NIV 15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! 16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me. 2. Live as an Example Proverbs 22:6 NIV 6 Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it. 1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV 11 1 Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ. 3. Speak Life & Pray God’s Word Proverbs 18:21 NIV 21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Deuteronomy 30:19 NIV 19 This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live Isaiah 55:11 NIV 11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
