Las duras preguntas que María Claudia Tarazona hoy debe responder a su pequeño hijo
One year after the attack in the Modelia neighborhood of Bogotá that took the life of then-presidential candidate Miguel Uribe, his wife, María Claudia Tarazona, shared in an interview with Mañanas Blu the painful journey her family has endured. After twelve months of absence, Tarazona describes the process as an attempt to "rebuild a family that violence broke and tore apart in the cruelest and most absurd way." Grief through the eyes of a child The most poignant aspect of this first anniversary has been the experience of Alejandro, the couple's youngest son, who turned five in November. According to Tarazona, his father's absence becomes more evident with time, manifesting in profound questions that she describes as those of "little philosophers." One of the boy's most heartbreaking questions challenges faith and the logic of loss: "If God is so powerful and can perform miracles, why can't I ask him to bring my dad back?" Alejandro also grapples with the irreversibility of death, asking questions like, “Mom, is death forever?” or “Can I visit my dad in heaven?” Tarazona confesses that, faced with her son’s inconsolable tears at not being able to say goodbye, she herself is “heartbroken” and tries to give him space so that he “can allow himself to feel everything it means to not have his dad.” A ritual for the unfinished farewell To help Alejandro process the fact that his father was murdered, the family planned a “closing ritual” on a mountain. This activity includes a hike with messages that Miguel recorded in videos, songs, and notes from his travels. At the end, they will plant a tree and release butterflies as a symbolic act to send to heaven the farewell message that the boy feels he couldn’t deliver. The "Political Grief" and the Absence of a Leader Beyond the family sphere, Tarazona revealed that she recently decided to open the door to "the political grief of Miguel," a facet she had kept closed while coping with the loss of his wife and life partner. "It's about understanding that we won't be living in the country he would have built for Colombians," she noted, emphasizing that Miguel was a "bridge-builder" capable of uniting different sectors with firmness and honesty. In this context, she defended her support for Paloma Valencia in the last election, stating that she honored Miguel's word, as he was always respectful of former President Uribe and his party.
