What is differentiated road management? It's the way we manage the green spaces along departmental roads. This includes everything that's vegetated: roadsides, ditches, embankments, and beyond the roads themselves, small patches of land alongside them (known in the jargon as "roadside verges"), stormwater retention basins, and cycle paths and lanes. Managing all these areas requires specific maintenance by the Pas-de-Calais Department, known as mowing, which must take into account the specific characteristics of the vegetated surfaces, their heritage value, and ecological considerations, while also ensuring the safety of road users and the proper functioning of all structures such as drains, gutters, and bridges. In short: mow better, mow less, to preserve safety and biodiversity! Because one of the Department's key priorities for several years has been to adapt the road network as effectively as possible to environmental challenges, taking into account climate issues, and to enhance and preserve natural spaces and resources, such as water resources. And mowing, like the elimination of pesticides, is part of these adaptations.
