After saying goodbye to Hannes and explored the historical city of Herat, it was time to set off. There are three ways you can take from Herat to Kabul, the two most frequent routes - Northern and Southern, avoid the mountains, are quick and safe. There's a third alternative, going through the mountains directly. This is a long journey with rough terrain, extreme temperatures, high altitude and is as remote as it gets.
