A Beginner's Guide to Recognizing Everyday Ableism!
Ableism and it's effects are everywhere, and that includes my own thought process. In this video, I am confronting myself and opening up about my journey of recognizing and challenging my own assumptions around disability and the barriers that ableism creates. As a non-disabled restaurant owner with an integrated work team, the process of confronting ableism in myself and in our culture has been a vital part of creating safety and understanding. Today, I’ll walk through my personal experiences, the questions I ask myself, and a recent moment where I had to confront my own ableism. If you’ve ever wondered about your own disability assumptions (or ableism), I invite you to join me in this conversation with curiosity, not shame. 📌 Subscribe for more conversations on disability, inclusion, and personal growth! 📝 Read more on my Substack: https://substack.com/@kathrynhubert 🎥 Watch my deep dive on ableism here: • Let's Talk About ABLEISM Let’s keep learning and growing together. 💙 #disability #disabilityrights #ableism #disabilityadvocate 00:00 Intro 00:35 Who Am I? 01:36 Step 1 04:09 Ableism Defined 05:49 Subscribe 05:54 Question No.1 06:41 Question No.2 08:44 Question No.3 10:29 Substack Announcement 10:52 Brain Break 11:34 Outro 🌱 Find us here 🌱 Instagram // @chezgenese Facebook // Chez Genèse Email Us // [email protected] BOOK A SPEAKER // https://www.chezgenese.com/keynotespe...
