Introductory Lecture: Vladimiro Giacché, "Monetary Annexations" The economist and essayist presents his book "Anschluss. The Annexation. The Unification of Germany and the Future of Europe." The author reconstructs the process of German reunification in 1990 and highlights the importance of the West German mark as a tool for the political and economic annexation of a territory with lower productivity. Giacché draws a parallel between the introduction of the German mark in East Germany and that of the euro in the member countries of the European Union, with negative economic consequences in both cases.
