Catching Big Bass to Start the 2020 and the New Decade

I get to go winter bass fishing with my buddy on New Years Day, and the first day of the new decade. The bass were set up in the traditional winter jig pattern. As typical with winter fishing, the weather and water was cold. The air and water temperatures were both in the low to high 40's. When the conditions set up like this, its best to fish slow and with finesse. The lure of choice was the OneCast Fishing Classic Craw Football Finesse Jig. This jig paired with a beaver style trailer proved irresistible to the big largemouth bass at the bottom of the lake. The fish were set up in 20 plus feet of water, and you had to be around white perch, the primary forage for bass in this water. The bass would set up on a slight hump or along the channel edge waiting for something to swim by that they could ambush. We couldn't fish fast. You had to drag the jig real slow along the bottom and let it set. In fact, a couple bites came when the jig was sitting on the bottom and I was picking out a backlash.
