Fusion of organisms was the greatest transition in evolution
The creation of the energy factories of cells (mitochondria in animals, plastids in plants) made the transition from microorganisms to macro-organisms possible. This lecture explains why and how it happened. First delivered as a lecture to the 2024 Congress of the Iranian Society of Biology.
