THE WORLD CUP JUST DECIDED THE BALLON D’OR

The 2026 World Cup is over, and now the biggest debates begin. In this video, I reveal my Team of the Tournament, explain the players who impressed me most, and break down the difficult decisions in every position. From the goalkeeper and defensive line to the midfield controllers and the attackers who decided matches, I look beyond reputation and focus on actual performances across the tournament. I discuss the influence of players such as Rodri, Jude Bellingham, Michael Olise, Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappé, while also highlighting some of the players who may have been overlooked. But the World Cup XI leads into an even bigger question: Who should win the Ballon d’Or? Spain won the World Cup and had several outstanding performers, while Harry Kane produced another huge season and Lamine Yamal added the biggest trophy in football to his growing reputation. However, my vote would go to Kylian Mbappé. Mbappé finished the World Cup as the tournament’s most productive attacker, delivered in major matches and produced an elite season for both club and country. France may not have lifted the trophy, but the Ballon d’Or should reward the best individual player across the entire season—not automatically the best player from the winning team. In the second half of this video, I compare Mbappé’s case with the leading candidates, analyse the importance of trophies, big-game performances, consistency and individual output, and explain why I believe he has the strongest overall argument.
