Much like my video for "I'm On Fire"/"Sex On Fire" (   • Justin Friello - I'm On Fire/Sex On Fire (...  ), this song was a request on one of my all-request livestreams. I struggled with how to make this song something more than the original version. It's always easy to slow down a pop song and make it a ballad (see: all of YouTube), so I thought the use of my High D-tuned guitar could elevate this cover to something more than high-schooler-in-her-bedroom status. The way the Dmaj9/F# rings out in the second half of the chorus (entirely because of how the guitar is strung, with the chord in closed position) is really delightful.
