Today I'm bringing you a spectacular tour through the streets of Trujillo, exploring the best traditional street food this beautiful city has to offer. We'll try delicacies steeped in decades of history and tradition. First, we visit Doña Melva, an iconic restaurant that's been on the same corner for 35 years, famous for its stuffed potatoes, picarones, stuffed yucas, broster chicken, cachangas, and relleno. It's a delight! Then, we head to Al Sabor de Marraqueta, where they've been handcrafting hot chocolate for 50 years in a punch bowl that hasn't changed since its inception. The secret to the flavor is in every cup! We also stop by Caldos Chira, serving delicious and hearty broths for 32 years. The recipe comes from the grandparents and is still in use today. A stop at Black & Tojo, known for their heart and gizzard anticuchos, was a must. The aroma alone whets your appetite! Finally, we visited Señora Sarita, with her authentic jungle food: juane, tacacho with cecina, and Amazonian chaufa, among others.
