Derby Hippodrome
Britains last variety theatre? Opening in July 1914 Derby Hippodrome was one of the last theatres finished before the outbreak of war. Few other theatres were constructed before the 1920's when the new style of Art Deco and a move to cinema swept through architectural design of theatres. This video footage was shot when the Hippodrome was still trading as a bingo club. It shows how most of the original plasterwork was still intact.
