WABC 77 New York - Bruce Morrow - Chuck Leonard Christmas Eve - December 24 1973 - Radio Aircheck This aircheck features New York City’s legendary radio personality Cousin Bruce Morrow, Then & Now. Back in 1963, and 62 years later in 2025, on 77 WABC New York. Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow is one of the most beloved and enduring figures in New York radio history, best known for his energetic personality, emotional connection with listeners, and deep love of rock ’n’ roll. He rose to fame in the early 1960s as a breakout star at WABC 770 AM, during the station’s legendary Top 40 era. With his rapid-fire delivery, heartfelt dedications, and signature catchphrases, Cousin Brucie became a defining voice of a generation, helping introduce and popularize artists such as The Beatles, The Supremes, and Elvis Presley to millions of New York–area listeners. In 1982, he successfully transitioned to WCBS-FM, where he became a cornerstone of the station’s Oldies format and further cemented his reputation as a master communicator who understood the emotional power of music. His shows were less about playlists and more about memories, relationships, and shared experiences. In later years, Cousin Brucie found a new home on satellite radio, launching Cousin Brucie’s Rock & Roll Party on SiriusXM, where he continued to reach longtime fans and new listeners alike. In 2020, his career went fill circle when he returned to 77 WABC, hosting a Saturday Night Oldies show. His career spans more than six decades, making him one of the longest-running personalities in American broadcasting. In New York, Bruce Morrow isn’t just a radio host—he’s a living symbol of radio’s golden age and its lasting impact on popular culture.
