The Ducati Prototypes That Created the Green Frame

Most Ducati enthusiasts know the legendary 1974 750 Super Sport "Green Frame". But few have seen the remarkable prototypes that paved the way for one of the most iconic motorcycles ever built. In this documentary, we explore the fascinating development of the Ducati 750 Super Sport, from the historic Imola 200 victory in 1972, through the succession of factory prototypes in 1973, culminating in the final Milan Motor Show prototype before production began. Along the way, we compare the unique features of this little-known prototype with the famous production Green Frame and reveal how Ducati transformed a race-winning machine into a road-going legend. The motorcycle featured in this film is an exceptionally faithful recreation of the 1973 Milan Show prototype, constructed by Back to Classics in 2016 using an original New-Old-Stock Ducati factory replacement frame and New-Old-Stock engine cases. Built with painstaking attention to detail, it represents one of the most accurate recreations of this historically significant prototype ever undertaken.
