White phosphorus (P4) is a toxic element with interesting properties. It glows when exposed to air and thus was the reason for creation of the term phosphorluminescence (materials that glow when exposed to varying types of radiation, an electron beam or other things). The term phosphorluminescence is deceiving given that it does not apply to P4 itself which is chemiluminescent. Phosphorus can ignite on it´s own and is very reactive.
