Sainte-Claire de Poligny : Les clarisses (documentaire religion chrétienne)

Saint Clare of Poligny, the Poor Clares of the monastery engaged with the world. "A Dieu playe Poligny" (To God, Poligny), such is the motto of the small town in the Jura region that captivated Saint Colette in 1415. The 17 Poor Clare sisters (a mendicant order) who today keep alive the small flame lit almost seven centuries ago still live primarily on donations from their neighbors, but also from entire families from France and elsewhere, sometimes spanning several generations. This allows the community to devote itself entirely to its primary vocation: the adoration of the Lord. A rarity in contemporary monasticism, which becomes clearer when one gets to know this remarkable little community. But who are these women who have renounced everything? What is their story? How do they manage the female body and the life of seclusion? These are just some of the themes addressed by these usually silent women. The camera follows these nuns in their daily lives, punctuated by prayers and readings, crafts, and gardening. Some are there out of love for God, others to atone for their sins. Each has a different story. This film introduces us to these sisters and the generous neighbors without whom they could not survive. Through testimonies and glimpses into their lives, the camera discreetly accompanies them.
