Kiddy Kingdom Carousel at Cedar Point | NAPHA Ride Spotlight

Kiddy Kingdom Carousel at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH. Built by William H. Dentzel of Dentzel Carousel Company in 1924 (some sources cite 1915, 1921, and 1925), it originally operated in Hunting Park in Germantown, PA until relocated to Cedar Point in 1968. This carousel was known to be one of Dentzel's personal favorites. It has 14 standing horses, 36 jumping horses, 4 rabbits, 2 bears, 2 ostriches, 1 mule, 1 lion, 1 tiger, and 2 chariots. The Armored Horse is one of the most famous and valuable carousel horses on record and used to be a part of the Kiddy Kingdom Carousel. Carved by Daniel Muller around 1915, it was featured as a US Postal Service stamp in 1988. Shortly after the same year, the Armored Horse was retired and was on display in the park's Town Hall Museum. A fiberglass recreation took its place. The Kiddy Kingdom Carousel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. NAPHA applauds Cedar Point for continued operation of this historical and significant carousel.
