Yokomen Uchi Dai Ikkyo

Dai Ikkyo, or Ikkyo (第一教), is the most basic and fundamental technique of Aikido, its Alpha and Omega. The founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, said that training Ikkyo requires a lifetime of study. Among the countless possible attacks, performing Ikkyo with Shomen uchi is the most traditional and complex movement of Aikido. There are countless ways to apply it, here in the video I explore what in my view is the basic form and some possible variations that I use in my practice.
