Give your old clothes a fresh new look with small, seemingly useless fabric scraps

You can use this clothing embellishment technique on T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies alike. Use pieces of fabric cut from an old pair of jeans for this project. I used two shades of denim—light and dark—but you can create the same design using just one color if you prefer. To achieve a more attractive result, fray the edges of the denim squares using a kitchen grater. This is a very easy way to distress denim, but be careful not to scrape your fingers on the grater. To mark guidelines on your garment, use either tailor’s chalk or a heat-erasable fabric pen, which disappears with the heat of an iron and will not damage your clothing. Good luck! :)
