Hayati İnanç explains that just as a child's mistake can sadden their father, the shortcomings of the community can also sadden the Messenger of Allah, thus offering a completely different perspective on sin. Hayati İnanç continues the conversation by sharing a very instructive story: A man came before the Prophet and told him he had three major flaws: drinking alcohol, adultery, and lying. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) didn't ask him to give them all up at once; he only said, "Give up lying for my sake." When the man heeded this, he gradually distanced himself from the other sins as well. Because once he abandoned lying, he couldn't hide the other sins he had committed; a transformation began in order not to offend the Prophet's honor. This story strikingly demonstrates how love and consideration can change a person. This conversation with Hayati İnanç also discusses the moment of death, the last breath, the declaration of faith (kalima-i shahada), the decisive power of love in the heart at the last moment, and how remembering the friends of Allah brings solace to the heart.
