Charles VIII was the last king of the main branch of the Valois dynasty, remembered as the monarch who initiated the Italian Wars with the intention of conquering the Kingdom of Naples. He was nicknamed "The Affable," "The Big-Headed" because of the size of his head, and "The Scourge of God" for his Italian campaigns. Unfortunately, Charles is a king who has been overshadowed by other French monarchs and, at times, mistreated by history.
