The symbol of this has long been the city of Gorizia, cut in two by a fence of bricks, metal grates and barbed wire, from the central Piazza della Transalpina to the municipal cemetery. And yet, for centuries the evolution of society between Venezia Giulia, Istria and Dalmatia has been peaceful. What caused the explosion of the season of conflicts? How did the phenomenon of ethnic hatred come about? What were the forced stages of the definition of what is still called the Eastern Question today? And what solutions are on the horizon?
