Cat 3406 Jake Brake

How does the Jacobs Engine Brake work in a heavy duty diesel? A little nutshell overview of what it does in a Cat 3406C. When I was making the video I had the hydraulic sequence screwed up and wasn't thinking right. The slave is always two cylinders LATER (240° of crank rotation) in the firing order from the master in a 3406A, B or C. So #6 is the master for #4, #2 is the master for #1. The Jake opens the exhaust valves near the end of the compression stroke to release the compressed air. Then the piston pulls against vacuum on the power stroke before the exhaust valve is opened normally by the valve train. Sorry about the screwup explaining the hydraulic sequence, but you get the idea of how it works.
