11th May 2021 - Peak District Hailstorms

An area of low pressure centred to the west of Ireland was promoting the development of heavy afternoon showers. Cold air aloft was allowing the air to become unstable in the strong May sunshine despite temperatures only rising into the mid teens. The forecast was for storms to develop during the afternoon and move/expand north and east through the evening. When storms began developing across the West Midlands I headed out into the Peak District to intercept them moving north.
