Tabu Einsamkeit – Geschichten über das Alleinsein | Doku | SRF Dok
All alone, that's how lonely people feel. They feel abandoned and excluded. They feel like they don't belong, like strangers and misunderstood everywhere. They aren't noticed and feel inferior. It's frightening how many people have such experiences. 🔔 Subscribe to SRF Dok now on YouTube 👉 https://www.youtube.com/srfdok?sub_co... 👉 Would you like to suggest a topic for us? The reasons for experiencing loneliness are varied and not always understandable from the outside. Feeling lonely doesn't necessarily mean you're alone. You can also feel lonely in a crowd or in relationships. The feeling of loneliness can affect anyone. The film follows four people through their loneliness. Evenings are miserable for Daniel Widmer, 51, from St. Gallen. He sits in his apartment, his thoughts endlessly circling. He often lacks the motivation to cook for himself. His tight budget further exacerbates his loneliness. When he's out and about in the city, he sees happy groups of people everywhere. This makes him sad. So he prefers to be out in nature. He hasn't given up hope of finding a hiking partner who will like him just the way he is. Going your own way can be very lonely, as Cordula Reimann, 49, from Langenthal, knows. In her book "The Aloneness-Loneliness Paradox," she explores the phenomenon of loneliness. Thirty to 40 percent of people feel lonely often to very often. Cordula sees this as a reflection of how society deals with difference and solidarity. She herself knows this feeling of not belonging all too well. Talking about it helps her, but only with people who can handle it, and there aren't many of those. Walter Reichlin, 83, from Lucerne, has been married to Mona for 57 years. At some point, he realized that Mona was forgetting a lot and was distracted. Tests confirmed it: Mona was suffering from dementia. Walter cared for her until he collapsed. Since then, Mona has lived in a nursing home. This is hard to digest. The silence in the apartment, the empty chair where Mona always sat. He learned to talk about it and not hide. Although he misses Mona very much, he is happy again today. Until her first day of school, the world was still a good place for Deborah Pfenniger, 28, who grew up in the canton of Obwalden. She felt comfortable in her family circle. At school, she was teased and excluded because of her excess weight. She didn't show her emotional wounds to anyone. Bravely, she stood alone on the sidelines and didn't let on. Even today, strangers on the street still call her a "fat pig." But she doesn't want to hide anymore. She wishes that people wouldn't be judged solely by their appearance. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ▪ A film by Ursula Brunner ▪ Camera: Luzius Wespe Marco Vogel ▪ Editing: Stephan Heiniger, Volta Film GmbH ▪ Production: BrunnerFilm GmbH ▪ Music: Alexander T.
