Maydena to Tullah via Waddamana, Miena and Anthony Rd, Day 7 Tassie Trip

Our day started with a very good breakfast at the Possum Shed Cafè at Westerway. The food and coffee were good, the service was great, and the shop really is nice. We got back on the road at 9:30am, and headed out of Ouse on Victoria Valley Rd — an excellent road which eventually turns to gravel. Toni had expressed her liking to this part of the ride on previous trips. We continued on to the amazing Waddamana Power Station, checking out this stunning place — add it to your to do list! How did they transport all that enormous machinery to that location in the early 1900s? (You’d have to think the horses got tired 😀.) We continued on the dirt til we reached Highland Lakes Rd which took us to Miena and then back to the Lyell Hwy via the B11 Marlborough Hwy — an unsealed gravel road. Dirt done — then it was on a bunch of Tassie’s best roads, the Lyell Hwy to Queenstown (the sections each side of Nelson Falls are the best on this road), a short walk on the Horsetail Falls Track and the Iron Blow Lookout, a late lunch at the Tracks Cafè, then a magnificent run on possibly the best road in Tassie (if scenery was included in the criteria) — Anthony Rd, a dash on the Murchison Hwy to grab some fuel at Rosebery, before heading back over Mt Murchison to our accommodation at the Tullah Lakeside Lodge. It was another awesome 350km day.
