Cocaine smuggling plane crashesđĽ
We finally have more answers to the mysterious crash of an airplane loaded with cocaine in the jungle of a South Pacific island near Australia, where the drugs were heading. Let me tell you about it. The Mob Reporter here with news of one of the worldâs most storied stashes of cocaine; but, really, with the wild tale of the many men who bought them, stashed them, floated them, flew them, hid them, died for them, lost them, found them, and eventually of those who destroyed them. This half ton stash spent the past four lonely years in a police vault before seeing sunshine again â fleetingly â when they were carted away for execution in December 2024. They had a hard, rollercoaster life â a choppy 9,000-miles aboard a small yacht from South America to Papua New Guinea, before being hauled to a makeshift airfield for a nail-biting ghost flight aboard a broken plane flown by a broken pilot, to Australia, where mobsters were anxiously waiting for them â only for the plane to crash in the jungle. In this video I tell you of their journey, how it was plotted and how it unravelled with two spectacular events: The plane crashing in the jungle when trying to take off, weighed down by the heavy bags, the other that their plot was doomed even if it hadnât. Australian police were all over the plot and the alleged plotters from the start, and were secretly waiting to arrest them all when the plane touched back down. The man crashing the plane was David John Cutmore, an unemployed pilot and flight instructor in Australia who had experience with smuggling after flights carrying exotic rare birds into New Zealand. He compared himself to Tom Cruise in Top Gun and in American Made, a movie about a pilot for Pablo Escobar. The man who brought it to PNG was Carlos DâAttanasio, a yachtsman from Italy who sailed from Panama with the bags stuffed in his sailboat. Like Walter White, the fictional protagonist in Breaking Bad, he had cancer. Three locals were hired to help build a clandestine landing strip for the plane, cutting a runway out of jungle brush. The alleged plotters in Australia are still on trial. For them the accusations remain allegations only: Salvatore Formica, known as Sam. He has alleged family ties to the âNdrangheta, the Mafia formed in Italyâs region of Calabria; Aiden Khoder, a bar owner in Australia in his 30s who has previous drug-related convictions; Pierino Forni, known as Peter, a financial advisor and part-time teacher in his 60s; and George Machem, 40, a tradesman specializing in glass work.
