The internet turned this into a meme, mocking the absurd argument of the former Minister for Equality. Few noticed, however, that beneath this statement lies a problem that is discussed half-heartedly or not at all in Polish politics. One in four men in Poland does not live to see retirement. Men account for 96% of fatal accidents at work and over 80% of all suicides. Yet, the topic returns mainly as a joke, a symbol, or, as Konrad Berkowicz put it, a "joking idea."
