Sensitive Species / Restricted Access Species Data (RASD) Task Group - 2026-05-13T22:00 (West)
The purpose of the Sensitive Species Task Group is to provide a framework and clear semantics for generalising and sharing data about occurrences of sensitive species. [Copy description of first session] Led by Cam Slatyer (working through a failing voice), with Mieke Strong presenting detailed case studies. The session demonstrated the sensitive species treatment framework applied to real-world scenarios: coordinate obfuscation for a cave spider, a new-species embargo for associated mites, and location withholding for a fossil where co-occurrence data could expose a sensitive site. The principle that the most restrictive applicable treatment wins was discussed. Zoom chat: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1o...
