The ethernet cable tester I used in this video: https://amzn.to/4fdpl3N How to determine if you have a bad ethernet cable There are a few different ways you can determine if you have a bad ethernet cable in your home network. One easy method is if you think you have a bad ethernet cable, replace it with a different ethernet cable that you know is working properly. If the network issues you were experiencing are resolved by replacing the ethernet cable with the one that you know is working, by process of elimination you can confidently say there was something wrong with the previous cable you were using. Alternatively, let’s say you’re using an ethernet cable to connect a computer to your router for a wired internet connection. If your computer is unable to establish a wired connection to the internet, it might be due to a faulty ethernet cable. In this situation, you should try unplugging the ethernet cable from your computer and seeing if you can establish a wireless connection to the internet. If you can, you know there’s likely an issue with the ethernet cable, and there’s nothing wrong with your modem, router, or internet connection. Despite these troubleshooting steps, the easiest way to determine if your ethernet cable is faulty or not is to use an ethernet cable tester. An ethernet cable tester will tell you in a matter of seconds if there’s something wrong with your ethernet cable. Ethernet cable testers are convenient because of how easy they are to use, and they also ensure you’re spending time troubleshooting the right devices; if the ethernet cable tester indicates there’s nothing wrong with your ethernet cable, you can spend your time troubleshooting the other devices in your home network to find the issue.
