Over A Year Living Off-Grid But We Are Plugging Back In

After living off-grid for over a year, we’ve decided it’s time to connect back to the grid! Our solar and lithium battery system has served us well, but it just couldn’t keep up with running air conditioning during the hot summer days. We were tired of constantly running a loud generator, so we made the decision to bring in utility power while still keeping our off-grid setup as a backup. In this video, we show the full process of installing a temporary utility pole, including: Pouring concrete footings (and dealing with some unexpected water issues) Setting the pole and assembling the meter base Wiring the weather head and sub-panel Getting everything ready for inspection We’re going back on-grid so we can comfortably run the AC, power tools, and other high-draw appliances without constantly worrying about battery levels.
