I made my own live horse mackerel bait rig for catching bigfin reef squid. This is an original micro-mini rig designed to be attached to small horse mackerel-sized fish. All commercially available live horse mackerel bait rigs sold by manufacturers are big in size. I have had the experience of the less active bigfin reef squid not biting easily, so I decided to try making a smaller rig myself, and so I did. It's still in the prototype stage, so I haven't been able to test it in the field yet, but since the autumn bigfin reef squid season is just around the corner, I'll upload a video of the construction process. I'll also release another video once I'm ready to announce my catches.
