Banjo Tone Ring Shootout | Metal vs. Wood Tone Ring
Tom Nechville compares the Nechville Pro bronze metal ring against a padauk Timber-Tronic wood tone ring. Sound comparison recap at the end: 6:02 No EQ or processing was used. Same banjo, same bridge, same head tension. The low end is a slightly hyped on both due to the proximity effect of the mic. This was left alone and not corrected with EQ to offer a fair comparison. The banjo used was a Nechville maple Galaxy Phantom. The swap was demonstrated using Nechville's Heli-Mount technology. More on that here: http://nechville.com/about.php
