New Brighton NZ - The only beach side city where people don't want to live
New Brighton, a seaside suburb of Christchurch New Zealand was once a thriving community. The heyday of the beach front town was in the 1950's and 1960's when it was one of the most popular weekend shopping centers in the country. However, since the 1980's the shopping area has slowly declined, so that by 2021 there is almost nothing left of the glory of the weekend shopping. Since the 1980's the suburb of New Brighton has declined into a low socio -econimic area. New Brighton is perhaps the only beautiful seaside suburb in the world where people do not want to live.
