A tandem two-seater aircraft, high wing, bicycle landing gear designed for pilots who love adventure and nature, suitable for rough terrain and mountains. In addition, this aircraft was self-built by the current owner… Today we will fly without a door because we will act as a Chase Plane for photos and videos of the brand new G70 powered by a 915…you will see it on the channel soon…so one more reason to subscribe to the channel and like the video! In short the characteristics of the Trail: 600 kg maximum take-off weight Rotax 912 combined with three-blade e-prop 105 liters of fuel on board So 5 hours of autonomy 100 knots of cruising speed (180 km/h) The classic all-metal structure is the most robust you can imagine; welded steel frame made using square section tubes tail cone, wings and tailplanes ARE in light aluminum alloy. The landing gear composed of an aluminum leaf spring with specially designed dimensions is able to absorb landings even on the roughest terrain. But let's talk a bit about the kit... The Trail is the evolution of the old DUI born in the 90s and its father, Nando one of the first pioneers of Ultralight flight in Italy, has always believed in the Kit formula to allow everyone or almost everyone to build their own airplane easily and without the need for special equipment... Yes, because even if it is in kit, the dirty work is still done by the manufacturer, therefore Groppo. The original idea still carried forward today by his son Federico is that the construction should be within the reach of anyone with a sufficiently spacious space and a minimum of mechanical manual skills... Riccardo for example had never done anything like this in his life... to date Groppo has built more than 200 of these airplanes sold in 18 countries, of which about half come from KIT. In the United States for example the Trail can fly as Experimental and therefore the self-construction rule applies with the only stipulation that the Kit must be assembled by the customer for at least 1% more than half...so the fateful KIT 51%! The Trail in assembly kit is supplied in the following configuration: • 6061 T6 aluminum sheets and ribs already bent and drilled with numerical control • Powder-coated welded components • Welded and powder-coated frame, in black or gray, other colors on request • Wing spars finished and ready for installation • Two wing tanks of 50 liters each, ready for installation • All other parts made with numerical control, ready for installation • Main landing gear in AL 2024, ready for installation • Rims and brakes for 6” Tundra wheels • Thermoformed glass • Pre-cut lexan side windows • Standard instrument panel, pre-cut and pre-drilled • Wing closing system • Electric flap actuator • Composite parts (tip and fittings) The Trail is available in ARF kit configuration, that is Almost Ready To Fly. In this case, the aircraft will be delivered in an advanced state of construction in its mechanical parts, but to be customized with regards to the engine, avionics, paintwork and accessories.
